Experience Royalty at Matild Palace Budapest – A Luxury Collection Hotel by Marriott

Matlida Palace

The moment I stepped into Matild Palace I felt like a Queen, and that is not an exaggeration. The vibe, that the distinctive ambience of Hungarian heritage which runs beautifully through its core sets forth, is unmistakable.

History

Built during the Belle Epoque era, in 1902, Matild Palace was developed under the patronage of Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Klotild of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to serve as the social hub of the city. She dreamed of twin palaces to greet those who enter the Elisabeth bridge as a graceful lady. Renowned architects Korb and Giergl, envisioned the neo-baroque palaces that would serve as the gateway to the Elisabeth bridge. The palace is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and is under monumental protection. Today, the hotel is committed to inspiring guests with its rich history, culture and epicurean excellence.

Highlights

It’s almost impossible to not notice how intricately the plush modern luxury has been built into the existing historic framework of the Palace. It was an experience in itself to marvel at the architectural genius that has resulted in the present-day luxury hotel that combines luxurious surroundings with authentic experiences, making Matild Palace the most spectacular gateway to exploring the magic of Budapest.

Fine Dining

The hotel also boasts of the restaurant Spago, by worldwide-renowned Master Chef Wolfgang Puck that brings the Beverly Hills culinary and social phenomenon Spago to Budapest, igniting the city’s dining scene.

Experience the Duchess, an eloquently furnished liquor library and rooftop bar and terrace that offers a completely unique perspective over Budapest’s famed roofscape. Enjoy a glass of your favourite drink as your eyes fall all that’s the UNESCO World Heritage Site Budapest. And trust me when I say, the city’s rooftop views don’t get better that this.

Matild Palace also promises to take celebrations to a new level come May 2022 with the opening of the Cabaret that will host live performances. The Matild Café will also function as a coffee shop till evening – a dramatical reimagination of the historical cafe originally opened in 1901 and reopened as the first cafe in Budapest after World War 2, drawing on the nostalgia and heritage of Budapest.
