Our Experience
We got to experience the Tamarind Houseboat with Spice Routes with our families, and it was a beautiful experience that was beyond our expectations.
The boat is super spacious and comes with two floors. The ground floor accommodates a spacious fully air conditioned living- dining area with two sofas, large plush chairs and a large dining table that can seat 8-10. The corridor that leads to the stairs has 5 beautifully furnished air-conditioned ( also has fans ) rooms with twin/double beds, attached bathrooms with toilets and large windows that offer some stunning views to wake up to. There is also a kitchen along the corridor where your fresh and delicious meals are prepared.
The stairs lead you up to the first floor that boasts a large air-conditioned conference room with toilets and roomy sun deck. This is the perfect setting for an intimate gathering and to later relax with a book or drinks and good music.
The staff were very kind and obliging.
Dining on Board
The dining experience at Spice Route Luxury Cruises was definitely one of the most memorable aspects of our trip. Fresh river fish cooked to perfection, Kerala style chicken curry, along with veg specialties, stews, curry, rice, chutneys and paapad made for a heart filling lunch.
Dinner comprised of Appam, Rice, Fish Curry, Fried Chicken, Paneer Butter Masala and a Veg Kurma all made delicious with the perfect mix of spices and love.
Breakfast was a combination of continental staples (bread and eggs with fruit), along with an option of Kerala specials like Idiyappam, Kerala style Egg Curry and Idlis with a host of Chutneys and Sambar.
You can even purchase sea food (fresh fish, lobsters or mussel) from the fishermen along the canals. You can take it right from their canoe or for local stalls along the shore and the chef will cook it fresh in the on-board kitchen.
Celebrating a special occasion? A private candle lit dinner can be arranged on the backwater cruise for you.
So if you imagine yourself floating peacefully through meandering backwaters, close to the very essence of nature – lying on a couch, catching the sun, reading a book or simply pondering about the beauty of the little joys of life – on your holiday, then this enchanted experience is definitely for you.
